Oregon lacrosse couldn’t find a way to keep up with one of the top teams in the country, losing to No. 12 Stony Brook 16-3 Friday morning. The Ducks made it close early in the first, before eventually succumbing to the undefeated Seawolves on the road.

The Ducks (8-3) just couldn’t find a way to slow down the Stony Brook (9-0) attack. In total, the Seawolves finished with 26 shots, 10 more than what Oregon was able to muster. Stony Brook also moved the ball much more fluidly than Oregon, piling on an impressive 12 assists during the match.

By halftime the lead felt more or less insurmountable, with the Ducks trailing 9-2.

The hot hand for Oregon coming in was senior midfielder Hayley Milner, who collected a career-high in goals the last time she took the field. Though she wasn’t able to post as impressive stats, she ended the match as one of the more productive Ducks. Milner scored one goal and one assist for her team.

The other two Oregon scorers were junior midfielder Carly O’Connell and junior attacker Courtney Valdez.

Sophomore Courtney Murphy was the star for Stony Brook, scoring five goals and adding an assist. Four other players put together multi-goal efforts for the home team en route to the win.

Oregon will return home for its next match, playing host to USC on April 3rd. The game will begin at 1 p.m.
