Emerald Media Group is looking for a Newsroom Consultant

Do you enjoy mentoring up-and-coming journalists? If so, you will love this job. Emerald Media Group, the independent student media organization at the University of Oregon, is looking for a part-time newsroom advisor. The ideal candidate will possess past newsroom experience within a professional media organization, strong editing skills, keen understanding of libel and media law and proven leadership skills. Past experience mentoring or teaching journalism students is a plus. The Newsroom Consultant conducts a weekly training session, critiques print and online stories, and holds office hours, including production day, to provide individual training and feedback. The Newsroom Consultant is also able to provide mentorship remotely via email, document sharing and phone conversations. This position is 15 hours a week during the school term, with the option to curtail or take summers off. Account Executive

Work one-on-one with business owners around the Eugene area. Helping these businesses market to the student audience through advertising and engagement opportunities with Emerald Media Group. This position offers great experience developing your sales skills and working with client accounts in the area.

Special Sections: Writers & Photographers

The special sections team is currently hiring writers & photographers. The Special Sections is responsible for content creation for Emerald Media Group's housing, dining and holiday guides. Special Sections is looking for creative people who are able to express their ideas in a clear and effective manner through their writing & photography. Applicants should also work well in a team and be self-motivated and passionate about storytelling.

Graphic Design Interns

Graphic design interns will work within Emerald Media Group's creative department, designing artwork for clients and other EMG departments. Design interns will work with Adobe InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator to assist senior designers with projects and train on becoming lead designers themselves. Design Interns must work for EMG for at least one term before being considered for lead designer status and become eligible for paid projects. Interns will be required to attend weekly meetings and maintain regular office hours.

Bicycle Delivery

There are at least 30 locations on each of the distribution routes. Two routes are on or within a couple blocks of campus. One route goes out to student housing near Autzen Stadium and along Franklin Blvd. Two routes are around the city of Eugene. Papers must be delivered in a timely manner and the boxes must be kept clean in appearance. The number of prior issues left on the stands and recycled must be monitored in order to ensure minimal waste and maximum distribution for our readers.

Photo Booth Event Assistants

The PhotoBooth Assistant helps run photobooth operations at events and occasions that have hired our services. They are also responsible for helping with set up, take down, preparation and be able to assist in any of the PhotoBooth operations.
