Oregon to face Tulsa in first round of NCAA Tournament
No. 38 Oregon men’s tennis will face No. 23 Tulsa in the first round of the NCAA Championships on May 13 in Norman, Oklahoma. Oregon (18-7) and Tulsa (17-13) enter the tournament with at-large bids.
The Ducks’ last match was a 4-0 loss to Stanford in the second round of the Pac-12 Championships.
Tulsa and Oregon share common opponents in No. 40 Washington and No. 11 USC. Tulsa defeated Washington 4-1, but fell 7-0 to USC. Oregon defeated Washington 4-2 in their regular season finale, but also fell to USC 4-3.
Tulsa top singles player is Or Ram-Harel, the No. 46 singles player in the country who holds an 17-11 singles record this season.
Both Oregon and Tulsa have ranked doubles pairings who will play each other. Oregon’s No. 40 Jayson Amos and Armando Soemarno will face Tulsa’s No. 82 Matthew Kirby and Dylan McCloskey. Amos and Soemarno have a 17-3 record, while Kirby and McColskey are 14-16.
The winner of the match will move forward to play the winner of No. 1o Oklahoma and UT Arlington on May 14.
