Women's cross country wins NCAA national title

The women’s cross country team won the NCAA Championships Saturday in Louisville, Ky.

The squad was expected to fight head to head against the top-ranked Florida State but came out victorious.

Top finishers for the women included seniors Jordan Hasay, Alexi Pappas and Katie Conlon. In addition, freshmen Allie Woodward and Annie Leblanc @@[email protected]@also contributed to the team’s total.

The women were ranked No. 2 heading into the championships, coming off their impressive wins at the PAC-12 Championship and NCAA West Regional Championship.

This was the team’s sixth straight NCAA Championships appearance and 23rd overall. The women last won this event in 1983 and 1987. The Ducks are one of only seven schools that have won the national title more than once.
