Move over, ‘Glee;’ Divisi is the real deal

As the melodic sounds of joyful singing filled the air last week, students gathered around the EMU amphitheater to watch the all-female a cappella group Divisi during one of their bi-monthly Friday afternoon performances. Divisi, one of few all-women's collegiate a cappella groups, will compete in this year's International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella quarterfinals at the Hult Center at 7 p.m. Full story

After 20 years of dance concerts held in the makeshift Dougherty Dance Theatre at the top of Gerlinger Annex, the University dance departmentwill finally return to the Robinson Theatre for this year’s faculty dance concert. About 75 students auditioned to perform in the annual faculty dance concert in the fall, and nearly 50 students were cast for the performances. Full story

Black Maria Film and Video Festival premieres in Eugene

The Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art and the Downtown Initiative for the Visual Arts will present the first half of a two-part showing of the Black Maria Film and Video Festival on Wednesday. The premiere, which will take place at the Schnitzer Museum, will feature documentary and experimental short films, while the second program, held at the DIVA Center screening room on Feb.

I am not a morning person whatsoever. So when it came to my mom’s birthday last year, I knew what I wanted to do in theory: I wanted to make her breakfast. However, I was not confident in how I would execute that plan. I didn’t know if I could physically get up early and follow a recipe.
