Duck fans are rude, illiterate and offensive

I realize many of you in attendance of the USC vs. Oregon game did not actually go to U of O (or any college for that matter), but the level of class in Autzen Stadium was still astonishingly low on Halloween. Yes, I was one of the four SC fans not sitting in the designated SC section, and there were moments when I thought I would be socked in the face à la LeGarrette Blount for applauding a USC touchdown.

Did I expect courteous hospitality? Not at all. I live in Seattle and have heard all the stories from Husky fans. I expected passionate, loud, and rowdy, but at least intelligent football fans. What I experienced were loud, delusional, insecure, and offensive fans.

As a Trojan, I have seen a lot of opponents lose, many of them sore about it. I had never seen sore winners until I visited Autzen. It was clear to me that you are not quite sure how to experience such a huge win. As the fourth quarter dragged on, I thought the atmosphere would change from hostility to elation. Nope. It was truly sad to watch fans angrily walk out of the stadium still looking for a fight. You won — enjoy it. And by enjoy it, I do not mean storm the field. You storm the field after major upsets or national titles — not when your team is ranked four spots behind in the polls and 3-point underdogs.

I saw your Code of ConDuckt posted throughout the stadium and thought that it simply must have been ignored by careless fans. That was until I was approached by a Duck fan who said, “YOU CAN’T SPELL SUN BOWL WITHOUT U-S-C!”

Perhaps your fans are illiterate?

There's no "C" in Sun Bowl ass hole.
A Trojan heading back home on the horse he rode in on... and everything else.

I don't really mind illiterates, but what was sad about some of the Duck fans is the sheer lack of trash talking creativity. While walking to the can, twice, some green and yellow wearin' fellow offered me a kind "F-You." Well awww shucks. Perhaps abDUCKt some bette trash talk from South Central LA?

Does anyone else see the irony in someone answering accusations of illiteracy by commencing their reply with "LOL at USC letter"?

LOL at USC letter. I went to the game and saw nothing like this. Several ducks shouted out "good game trojans" as we were leaving. You know USC = univ for spoiled children.

I couldn't have said it better myself. The most glaring anecdote to support this claim comes from a good friend and rabid Oregon Alumnus refuses to go to road games (he lives in Los Angeles and thus a road game is in Eugene) because he can't stand the company.

Are you giving me a break?

Oh you

At least duck fans have the temerity to insult their opponents to their face. It really is quite classless, and a bit hypocritical, to insult someone whilst complaining they insulted you.

However, you just sound sore. Utterly whomping the team that has dominated the Pac-10 for the last seven years without breaking a sweat is an upset of pretty heavy proportions that I'm sure every USC fan is trying to understand and cope with.

You are upset about your team losing. It is understandable. If venting to our school newspaper makes you feel better, scribble on. Better luck next year!
