Childhood dreams of playing baseball with the big boys could be fulfilled this weekend when Oregon holds open tryouts

This weekend, the Oregon baseball team will complete another stage of preparation for its first season when it holds open tryouts for University of Oregon students. The event will be this Saturday, Oct. 4, at 3 p.m. at Thurston High School in Springfield. Any student who wishes to tryout must bring proof of enrollment, such as a student schedule with your name printed on it.

A winning streak that will be tested 'Sooner' than later

This week the Oregon soccer team will head to Big 12 Conference country to play road games against Oklahoma on Friday night and Oklahoma State on Sunday. The Ducks (6-2-1) will put their six-game unbeaten streak on the line as they finish the last two games of the non-conference schedule.

Fall is a great time of year. Everyone is still excited for the start of school (which lasts until the realization you have to spend $432 on books), reconnecting with old friends, and looking forward to Duck games. But in the chaotic time at the start of school, one thing gets lost in the hustle and bustle: baseball.

USC hopes to recover after last week's upset to OSU

There was nothing fluke-ish about it. USC (2-1, 0-1 Pacific-10 Conference) was soundly beaten by Oregon State (2-2, 1-1 Pac-10) on Sept. 25. The Beavers' offensive and defensive lines controlled the line of scrimmage all game long, and the defense made critical plays when it mattered most.
