Top 5 Seeds

1.) A.G. Kruger, 258-2

2.) Kibwe Johnson, 249-2

3.) Kevin McMahon, 246-4

4.) Travis Nutter, 246-1

5.) Michael Mai, 245-6

2004 Olympian A.G. Kruger has established himself as the man to beat in this event. He has won the past two U.S. Championships and has the farthest throw by an American this year by almost 12 feet. That throw, a 258-2, was set at Hayward Field last month in the Oregon Twilight.

After Kruger, the field is very tight. Kibwe Johnson, runner-up to Kruger last year, has the next best seed throw at 249-2 and there are another five throwers within six feet of him. Among them are Michael Mai of the U.S. Army and 2008 NCAA champion Cory Martin of Auburn. Mai took second behind Kruger at the Oregon Twilight meet. Travis Nutter, the fourth-seeded thrower, was third at the same meet.
