David Frank is the honors college's first dean in history

On June 15, the Robert D. Clark Honors College will be officially under the supervision of its first dean in the college's history.
Current Honors College professor David Frank, the former associate director of the Honors College, will be filling the role.
Richard Kraus, the Honors College's current director, said that this is an important step for the College.
"Colleges normally have a dean," said Kraus.
Kraus said around seven years ago the Honors College separated from the College of Arts and Sciences into its own entity.
Kate Kevern, Frank's executive assistant, said that the Honors College staff are still learning what it will mean to have a dean instead of a director.
"It's still unclear how it will affect the staff and faculty," said Kevern.
The Honors College faculty and staff have been lobbying with the University's Office of the Vice President and Provost for several years to have a dean.
"This gives the Honors College a more helpful and appropriate seat at the table of the University administration," said Kraus. "I think now we will be less of an afterthought."
