Former director of operations Harris becomes new assistant basketball coachIn briefby Jeffrey DransfeldtOregon coach Bev Smith made it official Monday that Velaida Harris is becoming the women's basketball team's newest assistant coach. Harris, who served as Director of Operations last season, replaces the departed Selena Ho, who resigned in April. When Ho resigned, Smith had hinted then that Harris was in line to join the coaching staff. |

Kevin Costner, Modern West to raise funds toward new Oregon baseball parkIn briefby Jeffrey DransfeldtActor Kevin Costner is making a visit to Eugene to help his friend and Oregon baseball coach George Horton. Costner is coming with his band, Modern West, as part of a fundraiser to help raise funs for construction of Oregon's new baseball park. Oregon begins play next February and are running a $20 million fundraising campaign to cover costs for the new field and operating expenses. |
