Ducks earn a sixth-place finish at the ASU Thunderbird Invitational

Oregon freshman Jack Dukeminier shot a one-over par, leading the Ducks to a sixth-place finish in the Arizona State Thunderbird Invitational on Sunday at the 7,057-yard Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Ariz.
Arizona State finished in first and second place with its 'A' and 'B' teams finishing with scores of 843 and 852, respectively. No. 17 Texas A&M and Colorado State tied for third with 859.
The Ducks were in fifth place entering Sunday's final round, but Texas A&M came from behind to slide Oregon down a spot in the final standings.
Oregon finished the three-round, par-71 course with 867 strokes.
Eugene native Dukeminier (69-72-73-214) tied for ninth place in the tournament, making it his third straight top-20 finish in a tournament, and he was also in the top-10 for the third time this season.
Denver's Espen Kofstad (70-72-68-210) finished with a final round of 68 to overtake the lead, despite starting the day six strokes behind New Mexico's Kyle Nielsen (66-70-78-214) who fell behind after struggling in his final round Sunday. Arizona State's Knut Borsheim (73-68-70-211) finished second.
Other Ducks to compete were Joey Benedetti (74-70-73-217) and Derek Sipe (71-68-78-217) who finished tied for 24rd place, Isaiah Telles (77-71-76-224) and Sean Maekawa (79-72-73-224) tied for 57th, while Eric Grimberg (81-73-78-232) competed as an individual and finished tied for 78th.
