Habitat for Humanity to raffle Olympic Trials tickets

VIP premium reserve tickets to the 2008 U.S. Olympic Trials have been sold out for months, but Habitat for Humanity has a pair for a couple of lucky track and field fans.
The nonprofit home-building organization will sell raffle tickets outside the EMU today from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets cost $5 and all proceeds benefit Habitat for Humanity.
The raffle ends Sunday, and approximately 1,000 tickets are still available. The winners will gain access to the VIP tent at the trials Sunday, June 29.
"We have the potential to make almost $10,000 towards a house," said Kate Close, volunteer coordinator for the Springfield/Eugene Habitat for Humanity.
Close said the money raised from the raffle will help Habitat for Humanity launch its new sub-division in Springfield, which comprises 10 lots, two of which are ready for construction.
"We have hundreds of volunteers lined up and ready to go, we're just waiting for the final OK on the paperwork," she said.
Habitat for Humanity acquired the tickets because Windermere Real Estate, a co-sponsor of the trials, also hosts an annual benefit for the non-profit organization. This year Windermere provided the tickets in addition to the benefit concert for Habitat for Humanity.
