A recent $500,000 donation will help expand the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art's programs designed for children and youth.

University alumna Cheryl Ramberg Ford and her husband Allyn, of Roseburg, announced the gift last week. The donation will also support the museum's second annual NewArt Northwest Kids exhibition this November, which displays work by K-12 students.

Ford is a past president of the University of Oregon Alumni Association, and she currently sits on the museum's board of directors.

"Usually it is necessary to live in or travel to one of the nation's major metropolitan centers in order to experience a museum of the quality of the UO's Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art," Ford said in a news release. "We are fortunate to have a museum of this caliber in western Oregon. I hope every child in our region will be able to take advantage of the museum's wonderful integrated arts education programs."
