Beginning and advanced scuba diving certifications are offered through the University's physical education program

Dustin Burke is graduating from the University in June, so he's got a busy term ahead of him. He's got a lot of reading to do to finish up his English major. There's the business class he needs to take. And somewhere in there, he's going to have to find time to jump in Puget Sound and take pictures of coral.

Next term, Burke is taking underwater photography, just one of the 10 scuba diving classes offered through the University's physical education program.

Although all parties involved in the 2006 conviction of Darrell Sky Walker swore the case was closed, Walker, who has sought another trial for more than 1 1/2 years, will once again make his case in the Oregon Court of Appeals in Salem next week. Early in the morning on June 10, 2005, University senior Phillip Gillins was walking west down East 13th Avenue with his friends after a night at Taylor's Bar and Grille when a man pushed his way through them and continued walking.

Oregon's only wrestler to compete for Pac-10 championship Monday loses in finals

Ryan Dunn's fairy-tale ending was not to be. Dunn already beat the No. 1 wrestler in the nation this season, and the No. 1 seed during the first day of the Pacific-10 Conference Championships at McArthur Court; however, it was his opponent, Boise State's Cory Fish, who walked off the mat the 133-pound champion Monday night, defeating Dunn 3-1.

More than 100 students filed in to 100 Willamette Monday night to hear presentations on a litany of grievances against the University administration as a part of the an event to take control of campus.

Supporters of the wrestling team joined those angered by the loss of Holy Cow restaurant in the EMU, international students upset about the dismissal of faculty, and students campaigning to make ethnic studies a University department.

Willamette Street worn down by overuse

City planners are looking into alternative traffic patterns for Willamette near 18th Street

As cars sit idling on the corner of 18th Avenue and Willamette Street, with Blockbuster video on the left and HP gas station on the right, the stoplight turns green, and the drag race down Willamette Street past the stop sign to turn left on 20th Avenue begins.

This two-block stretch is the only major arterial road pumping commuters from downtown into south Eugene.

Man posing as University student steals two cameras from media center

A man posing as a University student checked out two cameras from the School of Journalism and Communication on Friday and hasn't returned them since. The man, who student employee Brian Walker said looked to be about 22 or 23, walked into the Chambers Electronic Media Center at around 9 a.
