The first informational meeting for students interested in running for ASUO positions for the 2008-09 year will take place at 6 p.m. tonight in the Ben Linder Room in the EMU.

Several senators, including Senate President Athan Papailiou, Senate Vice President Patrick Boye and ASUO President Emily McLain will be on hand to speak about job descriptions, open positions and filing deadlines.

Most Senate seats will be open in the spring. There will also be positions available on the Programs Finance Committee, the EMU Board of Directors and several other budget committees.

A new ASUO president and vice president will also be elected in the spring.

March 7 will be the last day for candidates to file statements that will appear in the voter's guide and on the ASUO elections Web site. It will also be the last date for campaign managers to register.

Voting in the primary election will begin March 31 at 9 a.m. and end April 4 at 5 p.m.

The general election runs from April 7 at 9 a.m. until April 11 at 5 p.m. All voting takes place via DuckWeb.
