Living large on green streetJoevan Catron's competitive zeal and optimism are paying dividendsby Kevin HudsonSophomore forward Joevan Catron, plucked from the mean streets of South Chicago and dropped into the green streets of Eugene, has been a great find for coaches Ernie Kent and Kenny Payne. His work ethic on and off the court is unmatched in the program, and the fire and passion with which he plays inspires his teammates and helps set the tone for them - as well as the Mac Court faithful. |

Beaver breather: Ducks ease up before Civil WarOregon looks to snap a four-game losing streak on Saturdayby Jacob MayDespite losing its past four games, the men's basketball team got a much-needed break this week by only having to plan for one game this week. The behavior improved during Saturday's game against USC after Oregon coach Ernie Kent addressed the fans before the game and University officials spoke to members of the Pit Crew, encouraging the students to tone down the vulgarity. |

Oregon faces UC Davis, Stanford in consecutive meetsDucks to grapple for position in season's last conference meetsby Doug BonhamIt doesn't matter to Oregon's wrestlers that they've got two meets tonight at McArthur Court - to the Ducks and their coaches, it just means a longer day at the office. "Its always good to be back home," head coach Chuck Kearney said. "You just get yourself up to compete and you approach it like a tournament format. |
Athletic department has no excuse for penny-pinchingIn my opinion | Bench racingby Doug BonhamAfter the most recent home wrestling meet against Cal State Bakersfield, I waited for almost a half hour in the McArthur Court media room to talk with head coach Chuck Kearney and some of the wrestlers. Wondering why I was waiting so long, I peeked my head out and saw that the team was actually taking the mats back down into the basement. |
