Although they lost the Civil War, the Ducks still get to go to the better bowl. Despite losing to Oregon State (8-4 overall, 6-3 Pacific-10 Conference) Saturday in the 111th edition of the in-state rivalry, Oregon (8-4, 5-4) was picked to represent the Pac-10 in the 74th Sun Bowl in El Paso, Tex.

Rose Bowl: No. 6 USC vs. No. 13 Illinois The USC Trojans will play in their sixth-consecutive Bowl Championship Series bowl in the 2008 Rose Bowl against at-large berth recipient Illinois, who was selected as one of the four at-large berths. Matthew Harper Harper entered spring practice battling for the starting free safety spot with fellow senior Ryan DePalo. Bellotti considered the two neck-and-neck before DePalo tore his ACL in one of the first few practices of spring. After taking over the starting role, he made everyone wonder why there was a competition in the first place.
