Profane headline makes Emerald look immature and unprofessional

I wanted to weigh in on the headline for your editorial in support of Colorado State's use of profanity in its student newspaper. Dumb. Immature. Bad choice. Unprofessional.

Expletives are for those who have limited vocabulary, intelligence and/or imagination. And, of course, middle school students who think they'll look cool or mature using "naughty words." Which they don't.

It's certainly not for anyone who wants to be taken seriously. Or have their opinion taken seriously. Usually educated, intelligent adults tend to immediately start disregarding what you're saying when you have to pull in profanity to make your point.

So if you want to be perceived as having something to say worth reading, something to say beyond the readership of students, and having something to offer those students in the way of getting their point across, skip the profanity.
