I found The SecretIn my opinionby Ossie BladineIn case you did not know, there is a secret to the universe. Lucky for our generation, it has been condensed into an hour-and-a-half long DVD aptly titled, "The Secret" - it has cool graphics. I know, I know: "I don't have 90 minutes to spare in this fast-paced world" you say. |
Campaigns should not file petty grievancesEditorialby Emerald Editorial BoardIt would not be ASUO election season without the emergence of expertly timed grievances filed by one candidate against another. Grievances are mostly based on minor technicalities and are an unfortunate waste of students' time. The grievance process only underscores how petty and pointless the election process can be. |

Racism is too prevalent in ASUO Student SenateGuest Commentaryby Guest CommentaryThere is an epidemic of racism in the student senate. There, I said it. How do I know that? I was elected to the Senate by campaigning to address and confront issues of racism that existed there, but once I served in the Senate it became clear to me that racism was too well entrenched in the system to be dislodged in one year. |

Choosing McLain, SunOwen will give student government a powerful voiceLetter to the EditorThis election, students have a choice between leaders who listen to and respect the concerns of UO students and those who do not. A choice between leaders who promote personal agendas and leaders who promote your agenda. The ASUO can be a powerful voice for you when led by an Executive with a vision to make life better for students. |

'Ari and Phil' would do more than just talk about making change at the UniversityLetter to the EditorI was a little surprised at "Students Could Save if Textbook Plan is Approved" (ODE April 3, 2007). Don't get me wrong, I support lower textbook prices. Who doesn't? I just think that Jonathan Rosenberg's textbook resolution is just like when he proposed that the Student Senate take a stance on Iran's nuclear status: It's a lot of talk but doesn't make meaningful change for students. |
