Three arrested after fight at Taylor's

After police dispersed onlookers, a bicyclist was struck when a car failed to stop at a stop sign

One University student was arrested early yesterday morning after a fight broke out in front of Taylor's Bar & Grille, drawing roughly 100 spectators and resulting in three total arrests. University student and journalism major Lydia Edmunds Webb, 23, was arrested while leaving the incident.

Two University women helped disarm a man wielding a knife after stumbling upon a fight on 14th Avenue between Mill Street and Ferry Street early Saturday morning. Walking home at 3 a.m., roommates Carson Lengsfield, 22, and Shanead Mueller, 21, were walking their usual route home from the bars and talking about their night when they saw two men on the ground, one on top of the other, Mueller said.

Bill Sizemore, executive director of Oregon Taxpayers United, spoke at the City Club of Eugene on Friday in opposition to Gov. Ted Kulongoski's tax proposals. Sizemore's appearance was in response to Tim Nesbitt, Kulongoski's deputy chief of staff, who spoke at the City Club on March 2 in favor of Kulongoski's proposals to raise taxes on cigarettes, auto insurance and corporate profits in order to fund budget increases for education, children's health care, state police and a state savings account.
