Fair, but not square

Thousands of people turned out for one of Eugene's favorite events: the Oregon Country Fair

On a sweltering Sunday afternoon in the woods near Veneta, children leapt, adults played and families small and large danced as the 39th annual Oregon Country Fair wound to a close. An anticipated 18,000 visitors who attended Sunday's festivities were treated to a scene straight out of a fairy tale: Fair volunteers waved magic wands with flowing streamers to welcome visitors to the fair.

ASUO President Sam Dotters-Katz elaborated Sunday on his plans to register 10,000 new voters by the fall deadline without a campus organizer traditionally integral to such a campaign, and amid cautious optimism from other student body presidents. Dotters-Katz announced earlier this month that he would not hire a new Oregon Student Association campus organizer after Tom Hojem left his post at the University to become OSA's legislative director.

Graduate students living at Westmoreland must find new places to live

Graduate students still living at a former University housing complex have been given a 30-day notice to vacate after the rent mitigation period between the residents and the facility's current property manager expired last month. Bell Real Estate distributed the "Notice of Termination of Tenancy Without Cause" to remaining graduate students at Westmoreland Village LLC on July 1, one day after the University's period of rent mitigation ended.
