State Board of Higher Education appoints new members

Orcilia Zúñiga Forbes, former vice president emeritus of University Advancement at Oregon State University, and James Middleton, president of Central Oregon Community College, were confirmed as the two new members of the Oregon State Board of Higher Education after being approved by the state senate early Wednesday afternoon. @@ @@

Middleton will replace Preston Pulliams, district president of Portland Community College, who served on the board since 2007. Middleton will serve a four-year term and Forbes will serve a two-year term, both starting July 1 of this year. @@

Current board member Jim Francesconi, prominent Portland attorney, has also been reappointed and will continue to serve on the board. @@

“We are very pleased to welcome Dr. Forbes and Dr. Middleton to the Board, and to have Mr. Francesconi reappointed for another term,” board chair Matthew Donegan said. “We’re excited about having the benefit of their many years of experience in postsecondary education, and their direct work with students, faculty and Oregon’s communities.
