Oregon women's basketball coach Bev Smith announced the signing of Lindsey Saffold to a National Letter of Intent on Monday.

Saffold is a 5-foot-11 guard/forward who spent the last two seasons at Delta Community College in Stockton, Calif. She joins a 2008-09 class that also includes Darriel Gaynor, Jasmin Holliday and Amanda Johnson.

"We are very pleased and excited to have such a fine young woman and basketball player like Lindsey join our program," Smith said in a media release. "As a seasoned community college player, Lindsey brings veteran experience, athleticism and a tremendous work ethic to our team. Lindsey is known not only for her ability to shoot the ball from the perimeter, but as well as for her fierce defense and aggressive rebounding."

Saffold gives Oregon even more depth at the guard position after Smith announced in April that last year's starting point guard Tamika Nurse wouldn't be returning for her senior season.

Saffold had averages of 17 points and 9.5 rebounds per game last season as she helped lead Delta to the Big 8 Conference championship, along with an Elite 8 berth in the state tournament. She earned MVP honors from the Big 8 Conference and was named first-team all-state by the California Community College Women's Basketball Coaches Association.
