The Emerald's coverage of Doxey accident reveals a rarely seen side of college athletes

On monday, July 21st, the Emerald produced two of the finest articles this year. Sports Editor Andrew Greif and Robert Husseman's sensitive and passionate pieces on Todd Doxey was superb. Rarely have I read complete and in-depth writings to come from your newspaper.

I never met Doxey in person, but I have heard several comments about him and every one extoled his dedication to football, academics and his relationships with all who came in contact with him.

Through Greif and Hussman, I feel that I have come to know him other than the death of a football player from San Diego.
